건축물의 생성과 소멸, 개발로 인하여 변화되는 도시공간에 관심을 갖고 있다. 사람들의 접근이 차단된 신도시 건설현장이나 재개발 구역의 철거 현장에 들어가서 직접적으로 건축 과정에 개입하며 도시가 변화하는 장면을 사진으로 기록하는 작업을 진행하고 있다.

<철거현장 Demolition Site>, <재건축현장 Reconstruction Site>(2013~2015)은 철거현장에서 건축물이 소멸하는 과정에 침투하여 건축물 내부를 빨간색 페인트로 칠하고 그것이 소멸되는 과정을 사진으로 기록하였다.

<재건축현장 Reconstruction Site>(2015)은 아파트 재건축 현장에서 철거예정인 아파트의 한층 전체 내부를 빨간색 페인트로 칠하고 철거로 인하여 외부로 드러나는 빨간 벽과 주변환경의 변화를 기록하였다. 아파트라는 공동주거공간은 각 세대가 개별의 공간으로 존재하다 철거를 앞두고 재건축 조합의 동의 하에 공동의 재산, 하나의 건물이 된다. 개개인 집을 구분하던 빨간 벽들이 연결되어 하나의 빨간 선으로 드러나는 장면은 개인의 삶을 살던 주민들이 경제적 이익 실현이라는 공동의 목적을 위해 하나가 되는 현상을 시각적으로 은유적으로 표현하였다.

I’m interested in city spaces and the ways in which they change due to the creation, destruction, and development of architectural structures. My work involves

venturing into New City construction sites (inaccessible to the public) and demolition zones for redevelopment projects to explore the changing city spaces, involving myself directly in the situations I encounter as I record them in photographs.


For Demolition Site and Reconstruction Site (2013–2015), I intruded on the process of a building’s demolition, painting part of the interior red and then capturing a photographic record of its destruction.

Reconstruction Site (2015), I painted an entire floor red in an apartment scheduled for demolition at a reconstruction site. I then recorded the changes to the surrounding environment as a result of the demolition, along with the parts of the red walls that were visible to the outside. In the shared living space of the apartment, each unit is its own personal space. But when it is about to be demolished, it all becomes shared property, a single building, with the consent of the reconstruction association. The red walls that once divided individual homes can be seen joining into a single red line, providing a visual metaphor for the ways in which residents living individual lives become a single entity for the sake of the shared aim of economic profit.
